She sinks like fire, shooting drops of gold— they strike and scatter, sparks on asphalt. And I—soaked, inspired— shall part from their light, like my adored daughters, shutting my eyes as though drifting apart. If only in my poems I profess—and they burn aflame, streets washed between walls where generations unfold— as though I had never closed my eyes before a setting sun— my words, yet glittering, hold
