The Tear-Shedder

A stump of a tree trunk— Thus looks a man. With no crown, tears pour forth Like blood that spills from a severed vein. A stump of a tree trunk— Leaves tremble beneath the weight of tears. And the sun has risen, and rises, and shall rise, While drops dissipate and evaporate each day. A tree trunk etched upon— Its roots run deep within my memory. They suckle the groundwaters from the abyss, And I shall shed tears each day.
